You might give that a shot, though I'm not sure I understand your problem. When you emerge xmms-midi, it notes that it will play muted music until a valid timidity.cfg is stuffed in /etc/. The TiMidity interface isn't that nice, so I'd like to get rid of it as soon as possible. Mplayer seems to be using the XMMS plugin as well. TiMidity seems to be rivaling about this file. My guess is that I need simply one line of configuration to make XMMS happy. Other lines like (either one of the two last lines are to be used):Ġ soundfont.sf2 # 0 for sound bank numberĠ /usr/local/share/2 # 0 for sound bank number The standard config file (containing "soundfont /usr/local/share/timidity/soundfont.sf2") doesn't work with XMMS (but it does work with TiMidity), instead I get a syntax error.
